This statement piece would be a great addition to your jewelry collection. The patterns and styles of this cuff have been used for generations to adorn the Lao Royal Family and their Court.

Each pattern features the stylistic rendering of the dok phikoun flower, which holds special meaning to Lao Buddhists as a symbol of long life and good fortune. The cuff has been purposely antiqued to enhance the depth and style of the dok phikoun. This highlights the intricate work of the silversmith and showcases the beauty of the magical flower.

Artisan Profile

This unique jewelry is from the same master craftsmen who produced jewelry for the Royal Family. This is the first time these pieces are available in the West. The main motif used in this piece was initially reserved for the Royal Court and is a stylized representation of the dok phikoun flower, indigenous to the region. Local monks have for centuries taught of the dok phikoun’s powers of good fortune and promotion of a long and happy life. There are only a few silversmiths who know how to make these intricate designs.

As Laos’ culture evolves and its products become commercialized, many of the master handcraft skills are being lost. Orijyn helps the master craftsmen find markets for their products outside of Laos. By supporting these crafts, you help to sustain the community culture and supply much needed income, preventing families from having to migrate to the city to find commoditized, low paying work. You will feel the satisfaction of helping an appreciative group of people make a better life for themselves. A portion of your purchase also goes to PADETC, a non-profit alternative learning school in Vientiane, Laos. It will help provide PADETC with basic resources to prepare young leaders for their changing world.
